Henderson founded his design firm, Shawn Henderson Interior Design/New York, in 2003 and has applied his artful eye to some of the finest homes in New York and Paris. Henderson believes that interiors should be a true reflection of how a person lives. Henderson says architecture is a huge influence on his interiors, citing Tadao Ando, Richard Neutra, Greene & Greene, Louis Kahn and Edwin Lutyens as influences. He loves their mastery of organizing spaces that evoke feeling, which is something he strives to achieve in his interiors.
House Beautiful selected Henderson as one of its Top 25 Young Designers in September 2003, and Gotham magazine named him one of its Top 100 Designers in March 2004. Photos of Henderson’s work have appeared in the New York Times as well as on ABC and A&E, and he has contributed design advice to CBS.
